Legal Secretary - Construction & Litigation Practice Group
A well-established California law firm is seeking an experienced Legal Secretary to support attorneys in its Construction and Litigation Practice Group. This role provides a blend of litigation and transactional support, including assistance with construction contracts and related agreements. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced legal environment.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Manage attorney calendars, scheduling, deadlines, and travel arrangements.
  • Prepare, proofread, format, and finalize legal documents, including pleadings, motions, discovery, correspondence, contracts, amendments, and change orders.
  • Coordinate state and federal court filings, including e-filing.
  • Assist with arbitration, mediation, deposition, hearing, and trial preparation.
  • Coordinate with clients, courts, opposing counsel, experts, vendors, and service providers.
  • Maintain client files, matter records, conflict checks, and new matter documentation.
  • Support billing, time entry, expense reporting, and pre-bill review.
  • Collaborate with attorneys, paralegals, and administrative staff to ensure efficient workflow and client service.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of legal secretary experience supporting litigation attorneys.
  • Experience in construction, commercial, or business litigation preferred.
  • Experience supporting construction contracts and/or commercial agreements preferred.
  • Knowledge of California and federal court procedures, including e-filing.
  • Familiarity with AAA and JAMS filing requirements preferred.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong proofreading, document production, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy and confidentiality.

Compensation

$82,000 - $95,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications.
